Michael Gaither Tour Dates and CONTEST

Previous "Artist of the Day" Michael Gaither has an exciting contest to win "Houston Jones" new cd "Calico Hearts" and some future tour dates :)

http://www.myspace.com/michaelgaithermusic

----------
Hi Folks,

We survived the Strawberry Music Festival last weekend (two words: "cold, wet") and I'm the process of drying out guitars and ukes in preparation for the big weekend ahead. Locally, we're doing three shows in two days, and it's gonna be a fun little gig spree. This is my fourth year playing music at Roudon-Smith Winery, and for The Barn (another favorite venue), we have a couple of surprises to spring on ya. Also, up on the web site over at http://www.michaelgaither.com/ , there are a few new podcasts, as well as a contest you can enter to win a copy of the latest Houston Jones CD, "Calico Heart". Lotsa stuff to cover, so here we go:

This week's shows:

*** Thu 5/29 - KSCO 1080 AM ***
I'll be performing solo on "Good Morning Monterey Bay" at 8:30 am. Tune locally or listen on the web at www.ksco.com

*** Sat 5/31 - Roudon-Smith Winery (2364 Bean Creek Road Scotts Valley, CA) ***
Day one of the annual Vintner's Festival features Rob Hastings (12:30 pm), Sherry Austin and Sharon Allen (1:00 pm), and our band rounding out the day (2:00 pm)

*** Sat 5/31 - The Barn Houseconcert Series ***
We're back at The Barn and are splitting the evening with my pal David Anderson. Two local songwriters, a few new tunes, our first time out with our nifty new harmony singer Breanna Eddy, plus a brief experiment with multimedia (you'll have to show up to find out). The Barn is in Gilroy, and you can make reservation requests by going to www.barnconcerts.com .

*** Sun 6/1 - Roudon-Smith Winery ***
Day two of the Vinter's Festival features Rob Hastings (12:30 pm), Bev Barnett and Greg Newlon (1:00 pm), our band (2:00 pm), and Chuck McCabe and Jay Howlett at (3:30 pm)

(Complete info and directions is on my shows page at michaelgaither.com/shows.)

New episodes of my "Songs and Stories" podcast:

Songs and Stories #30: KVMR Highlights
This is a recap of my appearance on Wesley Robertson's KVMR show "Rockin' and Stompin'" a few months back. I played a bunch of tunes and then Wesley and I discussed this little podcast. If you're new to my music or have just discovered the web site and the podcast, this is a good overview of it all:

http://www.michaelgaither.com/podcasts/songs_and_stories30.mp3

Songs and Stories #31 and 32: Chris Kee and Travis Jones of "Houston Jones"
Here's another kitchen-table talk, this time with bay area Americana favorites Houston Jones. In #31, Chris and Travis discuss the origins of the band and how Chris evolved into the band's primary songwriter. In #32, Chris and Travis play the title cut from "Calico Heart" and "If Not for the Darkness", a new song from an upcoming gospel record:

http://www.michaelgaither.com/podcasts/songs_and_stories31.mp3
http://www.michaelgaither.com/podcasts/songs_and_stories32.mp3

And that CD contest

Want to *win* a copy of Houston Jones' new CD "Calico Heart". Listen to podcasts #31 or #32 for details. I'll draw a winner at the end of this month.

As always, many thanks for the support. Hope to see some of you soon.

- Michael

Inoke Errati - May 28, 2008 - Artist of the Day

GJK Promotions proudly presents Inoke Errati from Windsor/Detroit, Canada as Artist of the Day.

Inoke Errati plays powerpop, rock and indie music. Inoke Errati (pronounced I Know Karate) consists of Jake - guitar and vocals, Chris - bass and backing vocals with Bobby on drums. I had the pleasure of seeing Inoke Errati a few months back and was blown away by the high energy that they showed on stage. It's few and far between that you see a band perform with such voltage that these boys possess. From the time this trio hits the stage, they have the fans dancing in their seats and wanting more. In my opinion (and I have many, lol) this is a "band to watch". Take a listen to "Jennifer" to get the true feeling of their magic. Inoke Errati has a cd out called "A Wink and the Gun" which can be purchased through the "Divirta" logo on either their myspace or website.

Inoke Errati will be playing upstairs at the "Scene at the Room" - 225 Oullette Ave (in Windsor) - tomorrow, Thursday May 29, 2008 at 10:30pm with The Firelife. If you haven't had a chance to see this amazing high energy band, check out their tour schedule and take the time to catch a show, you won't regret it. If you are looking for me at "The Room", I will be the one with the "Inoke Errati" red foam finger ;) To find out more about Inoke Errati, read their blog, watch some videos, view some pictures, purchase their cd, check out their tour schedule or book this amazing band, check out their website or myspace at

The Hellecasters - May 27, 2008 - Artist of the Day

GJK Promotions proudly presents The Hellecasters from everywhere in the United States as Artist of the Day.

The Hellecasters play jam band, country, psychobilly and instrumental music. Now I am not sure how long they have been together but I did find songs dating back to 1988! This amazing trio has little time to get together and perform but when they do, watch out, it is nothing less than a miracle. The Hellecaster consists of (drum roll please), Jerry Donahue - "The guitarist's guitarist" and "Bend Master of the Telecaster." - http://www.myspace.com/jerrydonahue, John Jorgenson - "Virtuoso Gypsy Swing Jazz" - http://www.myspace.com/johnjorgensonquintet, and Will Ray - "G&L Will Ray Signature Model Guitar", "Will Ray Jazz-A-Caster" and "Will Ray Mojo-Tele" (his own Fender signature guitars) - http://www.myspace.com/willraymusic.

The Hellecasters website http://www.hellecasters.com/ is nothing short of amazing as each musician has a section which reveals their acomplishments over the years. It has a merchadise section where you can even purchase their first recorded cassette as well as every album and cd that they have put together since then. Of course their touring schedule is not up to date as they are all working on their own projects but hopefully they will get a chance to get together soon ;)

Take the time and check out each individual myspace to find out where you can see Jerry (take part in his guitar clinics or participate in his webcast on June 27), John (perform with the John Jorgenson Quintet or the John Jorgenson and Friends) and Will (performing, teaching and conducting guitar clinics and producing in his studio) perform. To listen to this dream team, check out the Hellecasters myspace at

Cheers and Inspire :)

Kadesha performs at The Workhouse Festival and the Rock N Roots Festival

You may remember a few weeks back I featured an amazing 15 year old singer/songwriter named Kadesha Affrica Drija http://artistofthedaybands.blogspot.com/2008/05/kadesha-may-8-2008-artist-of-day.html#links from South Wales.

Kadesha was kind enough to send me some links The Workhouse Festival - July 4, 5, and 6, 2008 http://www.myspace.com/workhousefestival and the Rock N Roots Festival http://www.rocknroots.co.uk/ Aug 23, 24 and 25, 2008 and would love for you all to come out and support her in her summer journey. This will be an excellent opportunity for this young artist to grasp what it's like to perform with some of the best and newest in the business :)

We wish that we could join Kadesha but (not in the cards this year) we want to send our hugs, kisses and all her dream wishes come to reality in this amazing journey she is about to discover.

Word of advice for Kadesha (and all first timers to festivals this summer) once you perform a festival there is no turning back, you will become hooked forever as there is no bigger "high" than playing in the open air and to all the wonderful fans that come out to support you. Festivals are a way of life and inspire you in ways that you never thought were possible :)
Don't say I didn't warn you ;)
