Bettye LaVette - June 11, 2008 - Artist of the Day

Bettye plays soul, r&b and rock music. Bettye's band consists of; Alan Hill - Music Director - keyboards and vocals, Darryl Pierce - Drums, Brett Lucas - guitar and vocals, Chuck Bartel - bass and vocals.

Bettye is classified "The Great Lady of Soul" for a reason. The Bettye LaVette website has a discography of 17 albums and cd's since 1982 and 37 singles released and unreleased. Bettye recorded her first single in 1962 "My Man - He's a Loving Man" which eventually was covered by Tina Turner and Ann Pebbles. Her lastest cd "The Scene of the Crime" is an inspiration to her career. It portrays her amazing journey throughout the years.
