Happy Holidays !

Wishing everyone the most and all the best of the upcoming Holiday Season :)

While attending to different situations, this blog will resume when all is taken care of. At the current time I do not have an exact date. I do log in from time to time to update but currently I am unable to take the time and dedication that it needs daily. Stay tuned for Prowl of the Day's safe return ;)

Have an awesome day and remember to always inspire ;)

Credible Witness and the trip to Toronto for the Much Music "Disband" taping

"Disband" is a show where Greig Nori and his crew work with bands to prepare them for judges who decide whether a band should continue and go on to "Stardom" or if they should "Disband" http://www.muchmusic.com/tv/disband/ and is presented by Much Music. They choose 3 of 5 judges to make their decision; Ralph James - President of The Agency Group, Jennifer Hirst - A& R for EMI Music Canada, Colin Lewis - A senior agent at a global talent firm called The Agency Group, JDiggz - Guest judge and Matt Wells - Much VJ

We started the day at 5am on a Sunday morning and got on the bus at 6:00am. The Boy, his friend Nic and I were off with all the other Credible Witness www.myspace.com/crediblewitness supporters to cheer on one of Windsor's favorite bands in a taping at the Much Music studios in Toronto for the show "Disband" . The bus driver was great as he knew where all the "Tim Hortons" coffee shops were along the way and made stops for bathroom breaks (for those of you that don't know "Tim Hortons" is Canada's favorite coffee shop ;) We had a little sputter trouble coming into Toronto but we made it to the studio.

Once at the studio we were treated amazingly, as you can imagine what fourty five 25 and under kids can be like after a 5 hour bus trip. All the staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. I have always been a behind the scenes person, encouraging, helping and always learning so it was no surprise that I took the spot behind the camera's and watched what happened behind the scenes. The beautiful Sarah Taylor was the vj host and introduced the band as they sang their magic. We were then asked to leave as the judges made their decision and then were welcomed back in the studio for the outcome. As the judges made their decision everyone listened patiently. Credible Witness played one more song and off we went to enjoy the rest of the day in Toronto. (You really didn't think I would tell you the outcome, did you? You have to watch the show and sit on the edge of your seats like the rest of us ;)

We spent the rest of the day shopping (yeap dropped a couple hundred bucks) and ended the shopping spree with a trip to "Hooters" (which of course was the 15 year old boys choice ;) The servers were awesome and even signed the boys calendar which made them feel extra special. There "hot wings" are something that everyone should try, I know I will be returning on a Monday to enjoy the all you can eat wings :)

5:00 came and back on the bus we all went. There was lot's of singing (as a few found the bar, lol) and new found friends were made. As we sputtered out of Toronto we wondered why the driver had not got the bus checked while he was waiting for us. Now as the bus sputtered, the girls needed the bathroom, the guys were (well you know) and the bus driver refused to stop. Then it happened! The bus died, right on the 401 highway :( Now we have 55 people on this bus and the girls and guys were jumping off to go to the bathroom while we waited for the tow truck. Two tow trucks came, the OPP and we waited on the bus (with no heat) for a replacement bus from a nearby town. By the time the bus finally came it was after 10 and boy did the singing turn to misery. The bus driver stopped at the first Tim Horton's to let everyone off for a bathroom break (whew we needed that) and then we were off to the bus depot for another driver. We ended up back in the city about 1:15am and although I was suppose to work at midnight, I called in for an emergency day.

When we got home, the Boy said "I am so glad we are home". My word of advice for him was "get used to it, that's life on the road, just wait and see ;)

Cheers and Always Inspire ;)

Watch for Credible Witness to be "Prowl of the Day" next week with a sneak peak of the bus tour and the Much Music studio in Toronto! Who knows, the Boy might even catch a picture of me, lol!!

Metallica, the Boy and I ;)

Yeap, after 20 years I took the boy to go and see Metallica at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.

The first time I saw Metallica is what seems like moons ago with Ozzy and then "And Justice for All". They were just young at that time like myself and how they have grown over the years to catch the ears of my boy.

After taking 2 hours to get over the border we unfortunately missed "The Sword" www.myspace.com/thesword

Kyle Shutt (guitar), Bryan Richie (bass), Trivett Wingo (drums) and J.D. Cronise (guitar and vocals) is The Sword

You can check out their websites at http://www.swordofdoom.com/ or http://www.indiemerchstore.com/thesword

Next was Machine Head www.myspace.com/machinehead and http://www.machinehead1.com/

Machine Head is Robb Flynn, Adam Duce, Dave McClain, Phil Demmel now although we caught half their show, they rocked the crowd like they always have over the many years they have been performing. I had the pleasure of seeing Machine Head years ago when they first started as well and they have come along way. Machine Head has travelled the world as they go on tour after tour. Phil Demmel appears to be taking the crunch as he suffers from episodes of Cardiogenic Syncope and has for the last 17 years or so. At the end of 2008 they had to cancel a couple dates with Slipknot for the sake of Phil's health. Phil we do wish you all the best and hope you have many more years of touring ;)

Now for the main show! Metallica! http://www.myspace.com/metallica or http://www.metallica.com/

Metallica is; James Hetfield: Lead vocals, Guitar, Lars Ulrich: Drums, Kirk Hammett: Lead Guitar, Robert Trujillo: Bass Guitar Metallica has 13 albums/cd's out
Well what can I say, the show was amazing as we listened to almost 2 1/2 hours of metal magic from the pros. The stage show was spectacular as the centre stage was set up to a moving drum kit (that moved 4 times so all could see Lars at his best), lasers galore, pyro (as we all expect, nothing but the best) and microphones set up all over as the band rocked the stage and moved and sang throughout the show on all microphones. Needless to say the concert was nothing less than the metal mania that we all expected. I (myself) am a huge fan of stage presence and show performance and I was not let down but this awray of color, pyro, the coffin lighting, lasers, the quick guitar changes and the balls that were dropped at the end. Metallica you have out done yourselves and am looking forward to seeing you many more times in the future. I little note is that after 22 years with the band the soundman/mixer who has always believed in Metallica and has made them sound so amazing over the years, was retiring. Good Luck in your endeavors and I am sure that you have many stories that would make an outstanding book ;)

If you like metal then this is one concert than you won't want to miss :)

Hmmmm, delays, delays.....

I want to take a few minutes to apologize for the delays in getting "Prowl of the Day" out on time. I have been suffering with a cold for almost a month and sometimes, my bed seems to be my best friend. Taking all the pills to try and shake it, but as we all know some days are better than others :) Between working in an environment that is cold worthy daily, it just makes it harder to shake than normal.

I however did take the time to take the boy to see "Metallica, "The Sword" and "Machine Head" on Tuesday at the Joe and can't wait for all to read my review, so stay tuned. For your info: last time I saw Metallica was when they were on their "In Justice For All" tour and to tell you the truth it didn't seem all that long ago ;)

Stay safe and continue to Inspire :)

Happy 2009 Everyone !!

Well the time has come to put 2008 behind and bring on the 2009 future!

This year has been more than challenging (for those that know me) but we made it through and now look forward to 2009, with bells on our toes. We changed the format, got a new logo and are eagerly awaiting our first event in April. The brand of "Prowling for the Stars of Tomorrow" will now be the motto with us prowling the web to find the independent musicians that are our "Prowl of the Day" and to move ahead to get as many musicians noticed as possible.
2008 brought us many fabulous musicians and even more the collaborations were amazing. Please keep them up :) Watching the of the musicians grow makes is all worthwhile.

As we move into 2009, we will be interviewing bands, reviewing cd's, putting on a couple shows a year to all of which you are invited to take part of. I always take requests from agencies, record companies, producers and you the fans to feature their favorite musicians.Guest Bloggers will be a big part of the project to get even more exposure to bands and musicians that might have got lost in the shuffle. If you don't e-mail me, I might not know who they are. I am also hiring a couple of writers/interviewers to help with the process. If interested please e-mail me with "I want to be HIRED" in the subject line. If you are a band and want to be "prowled", e-mail me with "We want to be Prowled" in the subject line and we will do our best to get you featured. Please take into consideration I get many requests everyday but I do listen to every band/musician that sends me a friends request and others that would like to be featured.

In 2009, I will continue to feature the internet radio stations that will play your songs (some of you are getting lot's of airplay and it all starts somewhere ;) I will try to feature as many festivals/events as I can, so you can plan your summer and even a few venues that are kind enough to send me their links. I have access to entertainment lawyers, producers, agencies and other useful information that you might need. I will also be coming out with a merchandise line, to promote "Prowl of the Day" and it's musicians, so stay tuned in the spring for some new fun and exciting things to come :)

Have a question, don't be scared to e-mail me as I will try to answer your questions as best as possible and help you move up and onto the future.

To you, yours, your families and extended families, GJK Promotions would like to wish you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year!!

Cheers XOXO - Geri and Michael
