Metallica, the Boy and I ;)

Yeap, after 20 years I took the boy to go and see Metallica at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.

The first time I saw Metallica is what seems like moons ago with Ozzy and then "And Justice for All". They were just young at that time like myself and how they have grown over the years to catch the ears of my boy.

After taking 2 hours to get over the border we unfortunately missed "The Sword" www.myspace.com/thesword

Machine Head is Robb Flynn, Adam Duce, Dave McClain, Phil Demmel now although we caught half their show, they rocked the crowd like they always have over the many years they have been performing. I had the pleasure of seeing Machine Head years ago when they first started as well and they have come along way. Machine Head has travelled the world as they go on tour after tour. Phil Demmel appears to be taking the crunch as he suffers from episodes of Cardiogenic Syncope and has for the last 17 years or so. At the end of 2008 they had to cancel a couple dates with Slipknot for the sake of Phil's health. Phil we do wish you all the best and hope you have many more years of touring ;)

Well what can I say, the show was amazing as we listened to almost 2 1/2 hours of metal magic from the pros. The stage show was spectacular as the centre stage was set up to a moving drum kit (that moved 4 times so all could see Lars at his best), lasers galore, pyro (as we all expect, nothing but the best) and microphones set up all over as the band rocked the stage and moved and sang throughout the show on all microphones. Needless to say the concert was nothing less than the metal mania that we all expected. I (myself) am a huge fan of stage presence and show performance and I was not let down but this awray of color, pyro, the coffin lighting, lasers, the quick guitar changes and the balls that were dropped at the end. Metallica you have out done yourselves and am looking forward to seeing you many more times in the future. I little note is that after 22 years with the band the soundman/mixer who has always believed in Metallica and has made them sound so amazing over the years, was retiring. Good Luck in your endeavors and I am sure that you have many stories that would make an outstanding book ;)

Whether these brave men and women wear the Firefighter, Law Enforcement, or Military uniform, each is a HERO ANGEL. All have taken an oath to Protect and Serve, each doing their job yet touching the hearts of so many. Often, they may not hear the "THANK YOU" of those they have helped however, we will NEVER FORGET. On Monday night November 24th I hope to see you at The Listening Room in Nashville. Very talented friends of mine will be sharing their voices and music as we work together to fight pancreatic cancer.

I can not tell you how much I appreciate the support I am getting from all of you. You are making so many people aware of pancreatic cancer and its need for funding. It was people like you and passion like yours that started the race against breast cancer and is saving thousands of lives each year. I have no doubt that when I say, we are where breast cancer was in the 1930's, that I won't be able to say it for long. I know we can and will change that.

Keep making purple a priority. Keeping painting the world purple. Right now there is no early detection. Right now there is only a few percent that will survive it. Right now someone has just been diagnosed and may not make it to Christmas.

Come out. Make some friends. Wear your purple. If you want to make a donation while you're there you can give us a check to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Our benefit is the week of Thanksgiving and I am thankful for many things. I am thankful that my father in law beat the cancer and beat his odds. I am thankful for his doctors and the many doctors and researchers that are trying to cure cancer. I am thankful for you, my friends, who have given your time, your talents, and your hearts. I am thankful for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and the MANY things they do to help save lives and families every day.

we started asking independent artists for songs to put on a comp cd to support troops in 2004, we sent out 50 copies, the summer cd 2008 this summer shipped 2580 copies, a lady in North Carolina with soldiers angels found us , the lady runs operation santa claus with soldiers angels
we sent her 50 copies of summer cd, for Christmas she WISHED for 30,000 copies to send in packs to troops.
We have 500 on hand and will buy another 500 saturday our budget is our own money as we need to buy cd,s however 30,000 is way below our means BUT WE WILL TRY

We are asking anybody to send BLANK CD R PRINTABLE CD,S as many as they can to help write back for details to send blank cd's

We are also trying to find a corporate sponsor but we are not incorporated as a non charitable organization so they wont deal with us, if i had 1500 dollars to incorporate i would buy more cd,s first FREEDOM is not just a word , AND being THANKFULL, now that requires action
the lady and oldtoad support indie artists and troops and so have put music and troops together on this cd project

These 2 amazing brothers - Damien and Tourie Escobar - play the violin like I have never heard before and believe me coming from a very musical family I have heard many. If they can't make children interested in playing the violin with spirit, no one can. Take a listen and then tell me that they are NOT two of "America's Most Talented Musicians". Personally I would love to see the votes and how close it was as I would not have watched this show if I was not channel surfing and caught them playing. I am sure we will see them around the circuit a lot more now and in the future.
